We woke to a reasonable morning and headed to Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fiord for a 90 minute cruise. Our drive took us through magnificent mountain scenery and past Doo Lough. Despite the wind we stayed outside at the front of the boat and were later joined by fellow passengers including a group of Americans and Michael and Mary who were on a short break at a nearby luxury hotel, Renvyle House.

This proved to be a very fortunate meeting as later in the day when we were struggling to find somewhere to park the van we met them again and they suggested we ask if we could stay on their hotel car park. This we did and subsequently shared an excellent dinner with them finding we had many interests in common.
