Jameson Whiskey Tour
UT Dallas' mascot is the Comet and therefore, we Whoosh. The person taking our picture asked if we were in a cult because we threw up our Whoosh hand sign. "Drive faster Mommy." - When a child takes a toy from school and sneaks it into her bag, she tells her mom to drive faster hoping to get away with it.
"I want words." - What a child may say after you tell them to use words (instead of sounds or hitting) to get what they want.
PALS Preschool has been an absolute joy to be an intern at and every day one of the nuggets says something that makes me laugh. Did you ever watch the show, "Kids Say the Darndest Things" with Bill Cosby? My work reminds me a lot of this show! It is crazy how smart four and five year olds are. They are all sneaky and intelligent in their own ways and don't know any better when they blurt out things. My coworkers are also hilarious! We are of all different ages, different backgrounds, and there is only one male employee. In a female dominant environment, the lunchtime conversations are fantastic for the sole reason of watching facial expression as we talk about wedding engagements, traveling and other typical girl talk. He is a trooper spending time with 10 other women each and

Many people wrote letters to loved ones who have passed telling the beauty of Ireland. I wrote one to my grandmother, Lola, on my mother's side, and my great-grandparents, Granddad and Grammy, on my father's side. I wish I could tell them of my adventures in Europe! every day. It's sad to think that I only have two weeks left of work... so let's not talk about that. On the more serious side of things, the kids were assigned new therapy programs this week and man, they do not like change very much. Being a therapist forces one to think in simple terms. It's a challenge not only for the kids to learn new things, but for myself to figure out the best way to teach them. Each child has a different system of communication and cognitive ability, and it is hard to try and put myself in their shoes. However, I go into each session thinking to myself, as Barney from HIMYM would say, 'challenge accepted' and thankfully, with patience and persistence, I can say 'challenge completed!'
The adventure started this week with the Jameson Whiskey tour. Our tour guide was grand and made all of us laugh. We got to compare Scotch (Scottish whiskey), Jameson (Irish whiskey), and Jack Daniel's Whiskey (American whiskey). I have to say that the Jameson wins! It was the smoothest of the three and very well balanced. I spent a good part of the beginning of my week on a wild goose chase for a charm to add to my bracelet that represents Ireland. This is the one souvenir I've been keeping my eye out for all summer long and I finally found one that I fell in love with! On my bracelet is the National emblem, the Irish Harp that also has the Celtic knot on the side. A long time ago, the music of the harp echoed round the courts of kinds and chieftains. Today, it retains its power and is recognized as the identity and pride of Ireland. That day was a wonderful day, because after I bought myself a charm, I went to a comedy show at a local pub called Stags Head. It was a nonstop laugh sesh. The comedians took advantage of the fact that Americans were in the room and I'll leave the jokes up to your imagination. Other days after work, I explored the Chester Beatty Library which was not an actual Library. It was an Asian Culture museum. I went to the Science Gallery and Gallery of Photography. The Science Gallery was filled with really neat environmental inventions which low key, made me feel bad about how much water I used taking an extra long my shower the night before (sorry the water took forever to heat up!!). I loved the Gallery of Photography a lot. The exhibits included pictures of reenactments from "The Troubles" which was the main conflicting argument between Northern Ireland and the UK. The pictures were stunning beyond belief. Last but not least, I also pulled a classic Sav and found a market called St. George's Arcade. There were a variety of little shops including a secondhand record store where I bought the ABBA album. 'Twas definitely a great market.
The best food I ate all week was hands down, Pitt Brother's BBQ. Maybe, and just maybe, I was missing good 'ol Texas meat. Nevertheless, it definitely was comparable to Texas BBQ. Per our waiter's recommendation, I ordered the Pitt Bros Masters with a side of mac and cheese. HOLY MOLY. This is a sandwich consisting of homemade bread, brisket, pulled pork, and an onion ring. If I could take some home to all of you readers, I would. I had leftovers for lunch the next day and it was just as good day two.
Keep your fingers crossed for me that it doesn't rain this weekend! I have a lot of hiking and such planned!
