I simply can't believe at all that it is easter here today. I had huge hopes that Easter would be this big deal and people would come to church all dressed up in their sunday best and families would have plans for an irish feast. Well no it wasnt at all like that. Should have guessed that the lax irish mentality would go for this holiday as well. Anyway I got up, put on my blue dress and went out this morning. first off it was like a ghost town- ALL DAY! i was told that everyone went away since it is a bank holiday on monday. but beyond that no one dressed up and got all cheery today. apparently the thing here is that kids eat a lot of chocolate, they dont even go for the easter egg hunt outside... i know CRAZY!!! I feel massively disappointed and i will just have to make up for it next year with a hunt with my sis 😊
oh i got letters from my sister's 3rd grade class- they were SO cute!! I will either be writing a letter or skyping back- to be determined by email. But they were just
adorable, little pots of gold with letters written about st. pattys day and ireland. it was definitely a highlight to my day and week.
yesterday i went to cobh with my program. it was really neat- we even passed the theme park and the animal park on the way. I definitely want to go to both of those. but we went to cobh which used to be called cove, then queenstown, then the irish of cove- cobh. it is were the rescued people came from the luisitania and where the titanic stopped to pick up passengers. It was a cute little quaint town- you will see for yourself in the pictures. the ofig ar phost (post office) picture, a little yellow building, is where the passengers would have been picked up to be taken out to the vessels. it was really neat! all that history in the little village 😊 after that i went to vibes and scribes and picked up some yarn and knitting needles. im going to make myself a sweater or something as my next project. i FINALLY figured out how to finish the bunny :D i sat down yesterday and decided i would not let
it defeat me- so i started with the pattern and altered it to make it look how i liked. im just adding the details now- the face pieces and the mini scarf. ill take a pic and post it when im completely done. after that i went bowling with a friend and then some tea.
that takes us to today and easter service 😊 later at like 5, lara and i went to the gym. now back we are doing our movie/knitting night- watching the 10th kingdom. and tomorrow morning at 8 we leave for galway -where i will get my claddagh ring (thank you nanny <3) :D that was one of my missions when coming over here- to get it from where it first started and that is galway so. for those that dont know it is the irish ring with the two hands holding the crowned heart. one meaning can be-- With my two hands I give you my heart, and crown it with my loyalty. but often times it is a promise that links the three aspects of loyalty, love and friendship. The way worn denotes the wearers relationship status. there is a jinx thing that
claims you cant buy your own, so lara is going to buy mine and i hers. that means I will not be writing tomorrow and maybe tuesday but for sure on wednesday since i will be leaving thursday for paris and venice till the 16th haha yay!!
ok need my computer to watch the movie so talk to you later- i wish you all a fantastic easter!! and yay my parents made it back safe- they took a cruise to mexico- im jealous!! I love you guys and im glad you had a great time :D
