Well the night train into Budapest was much better than expected, mainly because it was just me and Laurel in there so we had alot more room. Also she didn't snore so a bonus. 😊

So after I saw her to her hostel, I found mine and went out and explored Castle Hill a bit before meeting up with Ben. We met up (appropriately) at Heroes Square and pretty much headed straight for the pub and had a couple of beers and some dinner. After several more beers, we went out to check out the nightlife, which was a bizarre little bar called Cha Cha Cha's. It was averagely packed and we spent a while there before calling it around 2am.

First stop next day was the Terror Museum, which was a huge insight into Hungary's history and it's slip into Communism, and the following atrocities. After a couple of hours there, we searched out the sports bar and thankfully they were showing the All Blacks-South Africa game. After a good win by the AB's, we ended up chatting to a couple from Balclutha who were also there to cheer our boys along. However what was more fun,

was the silence from the South African supporters after the game. 😊 Though to be fair, one guy did come up and congratulate us.

From there, it was Midsummer's Eve so there were a couple of festivals on to check out before we hit the pubs again, this time with a couple of Aussie guys from our hostel. After 3 successive rounds of beer and shots, part of the night disappeared until I found myself at another bar minus the others, and after taking an hour and a half round trip back to the hostel which should have taken 15 minutes, I got back about 8.30am. We eventually dragged ourselves out of bed around 2pm, and headed for some food. That was basically the afternoon until we met up with Laurel again and went and watched a live band in the town square.

Next day were the famous thermal baths of Budapest, and it was just Ben and myself as Laurel called in sick, then it was back to the hostel aas Ben headed off to the airport and I made my way to the train station. Thus the weekend of mayhem concluded, with only the bare minimum

of injuries. Next stop is Spain and Portugal to meet up with Hannah and Leah to run with the bulls and test out the Sangria.
