We awoke pretty early and got ready. We walked a few blocks to a little bakery and got some breakfast snacks, and then went to eat it in the square across from the Great Market. After our meal, we went inside the market. The choices of foods and gifts in the market are almost overwhelming. It was packed with people getting foods for the coming Easter holiday. We sampled a few things and bought some gifts. We spent a good hour in there and then went out and walked down Vaci Street. It was another great weather day! We took Vaci all the way to Vorosmarty Ter, while checking out all the shops and restaurants along the way. I visited the Hard Rock Cafe quickly, just to get my visit credited.
We also checked out the open air market in the square. We then walked over to the Chain Bridge. We took a few photos there along the river.
Later, we walked up to Deak Ter, where we caught the yellow line 1 metro to Heroes Square. I was looking forward to riding this line because it is the second oldest metro in the world, and the oldest on
the European continent. The ride was about 10 minutes or so and a pretty cool experience. We walked around Heroes Square, Palace of Fine Arts, and Kunsthalle, then we went into City Park.
In City Park, we explored Vajdahunyad Castle and Szechenyi Baths. We tried looking at maybe visiting the baths but it seemed so confusing, so we passed on that.
We walked back into Heroes Square to get the metro back to our hotel. On the way we also saw that they had used the Palace of Fine Arts in the filming of Madonna's Evita.
We rode the metro to Deak Ter and transfered to the blue line 3 to Kalvin Ter. When we arrived there, we searched out a place for a late lunch. We found a great little Turkish place across from the National Museum. I had some chicken shawarma and a cherry coke. We then went to get some more drinks and snacks from the store, before going back to our room. Back at the hotel, we went swimming in the pool. The water felt great! After a little swim, I went into the sauna for about 30 to 40 minutes. I walked
in to see a fully nude couple. No worries! I sat down and enjoyed the heat. After that I showered and went back to the room. My family was already there and ready to go.
We walked down to Vaci Street and took it all the way down to Vorosmarty Ter again. We had dinner at an Italian place called Fresco Vigado, which was great! I had a pizza and beer. I recommend this place too! After dinner, we walked across the Chain Bridge and back. We walked back to the hotel and on the way stopped for some drinks and snacks. It was about midnight, so we went to sleep once at the room.
