May 6th – Kalambaka to Methoni Pieras

Went to the shower this morning & on the way back the Dutch lady was a little offish. Turns out the Dutch chap had walked into the ladies block, probably as it slightly nearer, & Cathy asked him if he had a gender problem hahaha! He sidled off...

Off we go again on a short hop to Methoni Pieras via via Larissa. Despite holding out on visiting various shops on the way down I gave in & drove into a mega IKEA, major zzzzz. Cathy bought her usual stash of napkins & a few bits...90 Euros worth! Hey ho. Cathy wants to visit Jumbo on our return..& have lunch in IKEA as we're there. Please not meatballs in sweet gravy with cranberry sauce...can't wait.

Stopped for lunch in a lay by when a hearse pulled up & the driver went over the road to a cafe for a coffee – thankfully no coffin on board

The motorway & roads we took took us a the way round Mount Olympus – pretty impressive – over the mountain & down & the first glimpse of the Med.

The camp site is a tad rustic & frankly, awful; has lots of the equivalent of statics & a few motorhome spaces dotted about. These spaces were mostly taken up by Germans – didn't mention the war..What can I recommend about this site? The water's hot. Not on our list to return homeward bound that's for sure.

Two spaces away is a Land Rover & on a pole is a very large Union Jack...I think the owner must be ex army. Turns out he came here over a year ago for 3 days & stayed. “If there's anything you need Guv, you come & see me” Good grief! Mad as a hatter too, a touch PTDS? If it's PTDS then it's a shame, if not then he's an Arsen Wenger. Walks around in socks & flip flops...

BBQ & bed

Tomorrow another short hop to Kavala on our penultimate day in Greece. We need to find wifi soon, not just to update the blog but also to get some details of our stops in Turkey as it's all online...Where's Mc Donaldopoulos?
