The Corinth Canal
One of the most fascinating visits we had in Greece was to the Tholos Tombs (Domed Tombs) of the Bronze Age. The burial chambers we visited were on the outskirts of the famous village of Marathon. Nothing remains inside due to thieves who visited these Beehive shaped burial chambers over the centuries, however they are still beautiful, empty as they are.

To get there we had to pass through the Corinth Canal, and when we stopped for a short break we met a very old lady who promised us that she has magical powers. If we buy some of her hand made souvenirs, some of these powers would be passed on to us. Who could refuse such a sweet and magical lady?

The area also lies a few kilometres away close to the mountains and lake next to Marathon which is the crash site of Helios flight 522 which had crashed a few months before in August 2005.
