SANTORINI THURSDAY AND FRIDAY; 30/31 October 2014

These past two days we haven't done very much. The weather is becoming much cooler each day, and the famed winter bugs are also beginning to arrive. No bites, they just seem to stick to you.

Have walked into Fira each day, 15mins, full of jewellery shops, t shirts, and tourist tac. These shops are also closing, fewer open each day. Thursday there was 3 cruise ships, Friday 1 ship and none on leaving Saturday.

The ships continue to visit until the end of November.

Ate at the cafe above our hotel again, 4 nights on the trot. Good honest food. It was also difficult to find any other cafés open, and the one we considered was 10 minutes up the hill away in the dark with a chill wind.

We have enjoyed Santorini, an exceptionally beautiful place, glad we didn't visit at its peak, as tourist numbers sound as though they overwhelm. Our hotelier was looking forward to closing on 3.11. Initially for a rest, then elsewhere for Christmas, before the prep for the new season begins.
