As my health improved, all other aspects (minus my money situation) were riding the optimism wave as well. I found that working nights at the bar became what I looked forward too the most. We would close around 3 but "shut down" the place by 4 or 6. I was promoted to bartender which I'm convinced was an undiscovered passion. Well, not necessarily a passion but I really enjoy rocking that shit. I have met so many people already. I've been on the island long enough that every 5min of walking warrants a "Hello Acee" "Yeah, Acee!" etc. Have to say this little paradise has won me over entirely. I will continue my journey as scheduled, but I have sworn to my next few summers in Santorini. I can't pass up a badass, free-spirit life like this. Hell, maybe next time I'll bring some of you with me. So on to Egypt on June 20h. I must add that if it wasn't for the amazing, beautiful, reliable, wonderful, and incredibly awesome Carla Delangre and Brandonn Lowery, I would be in the deepest of shit and unable to continue my journey. Thats a huge THANK YOU in case you missed it. I'm
Crazy fun bartender
Hooked me up with my man Jose Cuervo. in Santorini so if any of you see them, Hug the hell out of them and buy them a drink.
So anyway I was riding the bus into Perissa recently and met a family from Cali. The Girls were around my age and I gave them the entire rundown of the whole island. Upon exiting the bus one of the girls turned to her doubting sister and said, "Don't worry, I met a local." How sweet did that feel? I AM a tourist but I'm very proud of my ability to hide it.
I also met some fun-lovin American boys a few days ago who offered me a ride on their scooter trek to the Red Sand Beach. (Zach, Eric and Lobo) These recent Cornell Grads were celebrating the completion of grad school with a trip around Europe. I have to say that between them and all the cool kids I've met from working the bar my faith in Americans has been restored. I think about 75% of all travelers and sesoners on the island are American and pretty much the free-spirit type like me. I guess that means I should feel right at home eh? Anyway, I exchanged

They tried to get me in for the ride but I declined. Fun times my knowledge of the island for the free day and off we went to another incomprehensibly beautiful place. You hike a bit on the crumbly cliffs of burnt amber until it opens into a cove of high cliffs and sunbathers. I quickly learned that my flip flops were useless as I've already worn holes through them and literally melted them on my first walk on black sand. I neared death in anticipation, running through the mountain. We reached the ocean where I got to throw a football...(I miss that soooooo much ) then embarked on an hour long swim with Zach. Fun times Yall.
I made it back just in time for the "western" themed party at work. All for the Southern girly.... We rocked out with more Bon Jovi, free cowboy hats, shots of Jack Daniels and my southern belle accent. Sounds like a pattern here right. I have learned to love that pivotal moment when all of the bar stops to scream "LIVING ON A PRAYER!" Rock! So I lost my bartending virginity and the whole bar celebrated the awesome night by sneaking into my hotel pool for a try at skinny dipping. Ummm, morning of skinny

They call this working... dipping. No less than 15 minutes, nude and in the pool, out comes owner of hotel, livid and seething. She stares at all of us with demanding, penetrating, angry eyes like the "I'm gonna kill you" type. She's standing between us and the safety of our clothes. We all try not to laugh hysterically and Tony the bar owner tries to convince her in Greek that we are leaving. She doesn't budge, Fuck! Then famous last words "Ladies First." So my naked ass is left to confront my lovely hotel owner. I hide under my cowboy hat, the only real protection here and sprint to room hoping she didn't recognize me. Oh, but she did and threatened to kick me out of the hotel. So I apologize feeling like my mother just reemed me and laugh it off. I do say that this has already been the best summer of my life. Oh, and it's only just begun.
Bring it On!
