Arch of Apollo on Naxos
This the Naxos' biggest touristy thing I guess. Not much there, but pretty views of the town and ocean. Hey Everyone,
Well, it is unanimous here, Santorini is our favorite island and neither of us want to ever leave. No worries Mama Andrews, we will be coming home. Our wish unfortunately cannot come true.
So yesterday in Naxos, we climbed Mount Zas and well, once again it is no surprise that no one worships the Greek Gods anymore. It is rather quite silly that their places of worship are so hard to reach. Climbing the mountain was more than just some little jaunt in the park and it was quite difficult to find the path. We only got lost a few times. And we never found the Cave of Zas (aka Zeus) so we don't think he ever really existed (wink wink). The hike was pretty steep and there was very few people there. At the top, we met about a bajillion flies. I don't even think I am exaggerating am I Kim. Either way, they were really gross and had red wing things. It just reassured my yucky feelings towards bugs. It probably did not help that there was so much goat pooh on the mountain (we thought of you and your book Deano). We left
The Laundry Experience
We washed our laundry in our sink... it took forever, and we had clothes hanging and dripping for a while... but we had soooo much fun doing it! the peak quickly and headed back into town.
Last night for supper we went to the Picasso Mexican restaurant again because it was spantastic the first night and the guy running it was awesome. He actually married a girl from Kelowna so he knew Canada fairly well. And after the first night we managed to convince him to make some apple crisp for us if we came back. It was awesome and definitely reminded us of home. That was about all for yesterday, we were both so exhausted after the hike we just went to bed.
Kim is bugging me to start typing (just kidding honey) so here she is...
Well, this morning we were so eager to get to Santorini we were literally waiting for 12:00 to roll around so we could go to the ferry. The ride was quicker than expected and we arrived in 2 hours rather than 2.5. It was a better ferry than our ride to Mykonos, as even though we were outside, the sun was warm, the breeze was nice, and we could play cards in our t-shirts. (Elaine, we've been playing Shithead... sorry Mom, but that's the real name of
Behemoth of a taco
I created the taco for him! It was gigantic.. but he ate it all, surprise surprise! the game!). So we arrived.. and ohhhh myyyyy goodnesssssss, it is AMAZING! Est tres belle! The drive up to our hostel was harrowing (curvy roads and passing cars on the wrong side of the road on a cliff, eek!) but our hostel owners are awesome. The receptionist (wife of the owner) knows the island so well and gave us a ton of information of where to go and what to see. We jumped into the pool (just outside our room) and then hit the town. We spent a lot of money today on gifts. But we are both still under budget for the 10 days here. Woot! I got shoes! And a new scarf! And Dennis bought a candle holder (he's been getting a new one from each island for our home to remind us of Greece) and also a painting and some EXTRA virgin olive oil! Don't worry Momma, we got some for you too.
We had a great dinner of lamb at a neat little restaurant called Nikolas' Taverna and then ran up to the Catholic Cathedral (in Fira) to watch the sun set. It was amazing. So many colours and the light was everywhere. We got
Goat friends on Mount Zas
This is on the way back down, I bleated to them, and one of them looked and bleated back. But then we think he realized I was not a goat and REFUSED to answer anymore. some really beautiful pictures, but none can capture the beauty of it. We wish you could have been here to share it with us everyone.
Tomorrow we are going to go on a tour to see the volcano island, the hot springs, and then head to Oia where the sunsets are supposed to be even more spectacular. Supposedly, the best in the world. We'll let you know....
Hope everyone is doing well and we miss and love you all,
Yours in Christ,
Kim and Dennis

I'm glad you love it! Its probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. While your there you should check out Akrotiri, its the Greek version of Pompeii, and i believe much older. Its really neat. I'm so jealous!! Enjoy! Oh yea, go visit the town of Perissa, walk the main street and near the beach is a bar that when Meg and I were there had a Canadian flag hanging in it. It pretty basic looking, made of a darker wood i think. You should see if its still Canadian owned! They might even give you a free drink for being Canadian :)
