Edit Blog Post
I am going to apologise in advance for this blog, I cannot remember much of my time in Kos but wanted to share my pictures with people/friends so please excuse my blog (or lack of a blog) & I hope you enjoy what I do remember & the few pictures I have that bring back so many memories.
When I was 21 I had planned with my friend Peter to take a year (or two) out to travel however a job opportunity came up that I could not ignore & I was unable to travel, sadly my friend Peter did not go travelling either but he did spend a summer season in a part of Kos called Kardamena, which we had both spoke about doing to start our travels. Whilst he was there my friend Michael & I visited Peter for the messiest week of our lives, it was a week of drinking & partying with the occasional spot of sunbathing (so that people actually knew we had spent some time in a hot country).
Kos used to be a small, quiet fishing village but as with many Greek islands it now has parts dedicated to partying, this was
another trip to a place full of history that sadly I saw none but what I did see & experience was equally as special in its own unique way, a week catching up with one of my closest friends in a place made for getting drunk, what more could a young party animal ask for.
Whilst we were in Kos the World Cup was being shown & England had a great chance of winning it (at least I thought they did at the time), our first night in Kos an England match was on so being typical Brits we dressed in clothes that showed our support for England & headed for the pub, I drank so much that when I woke up the following day I couldn’t even remember who had won the match & I had passed out fairly early on in the night so missed out on all of the partying I had looked forward to so much.
Over the years of going to party islands with each trip came a new costume to wear for ‘themed nights’, by the time I went to Kos I had so many costumes that I didn’t actually take any
normal clothing apart from what I was going to wear to the airport on the way home. There was Fireman night, Army night, Navy Seal night, England night, Fighter Pilot night & Baywatch night (a note for those reading this as I am writing this blog I am cringing at what I used to think was a good idea & cool).
Kardamena was the smallest of the party islands I had ever been too, the streets were so narrow you could literally step from one side of the road to the other without actually stepping foot on the road! The inside of the bars were all fairly small so most people would just go in to buy a drink & then stand in the street talking/dancing, I felt sorry for the people on mopeds trying to get through a sea of drunk Brits (I feel equally as sorry for anyone who is actually in a sea of drunk Brits lol).
Most of my nights in Kos sort of blend in to one but one night that sticks in my mind very clearly was the night I left the window open & let in some mosquitos, not such a
My trousers fell just a little bit too low on Fireman night!
(Don't worry at no point was I exposed just my trousers a little too low lol) problem really is it? So you get a few bites what’s the big deal? It becomes a big deal when you get in drunk, decide to take all of your clothes off & then pass out naked on your bed, for some reason all of the mosquitos (I’m assuming there were a lot because of the number of bites I had when I woke up) decided to have dinner biting pretty much the same part of my body. I think I had maybe four or five bites on my arms & legs but the rest of the bites, all SIXTEEN of them, were on my ‘special place’, to say the rest of the holiday was uncomfortable would be under statement of the century.
Most of the other things I remember of my trip to Kos have to be censored as they are a little bit too outrageous for Travelblog but as I said before this blog is mainly for sharing my pictures with my friends. Although I cannot remember much of my time in Kos the bits I do remember were some of the best memories of my life & out of all of the party islands I visited
in my opinion Kos was the best!
