On Thursday we enjoyed a boat trip around Paxos together with a visit to the neighbouring island of Anti Paxos. Paxos is probably no more than 6 miles from top to bottom and about 2 miles wide at the most. The west side of the island is dominated by high level cliffs towering over the sea. By contrast the east coast has 3 natural harbours and several pebbly beaches. For sandy beaches one needs to travel to Anti Paxos which is a 20 minute boat ride from Gaios, the main town of Paxos. Vrika beach on Anti Paxos, which we visited, not only offers a sandy beach to relax on but also a couple of tavernas that do a fine lunch.
Today the weather has turned to bursts of torrential rain and I am knocking out this blog in a rather damp bar in Gaios. Still we have had wonderful weather up until now. So no complaints. Back home on Monday.
