Crete

I am a little behind on the blog but I will comment on Crete. The Samari Gorge is amazing. It is a -6 hr hike but well worth it. Hard on the knees becquse of the descent.
The city of Iraklio is not really a tourist place and there is no reason to stay there.

We then did a mainland tour of Greece that took us to Delphi which has really old stuff (3000 yrs +) and to Olympia where they had the first games: 776 BC

Greek history is a little confusing because they make up gods and mix humans in and sometimes we were not sure which was which.

We then finished in Meteroa which is a group of 11Cent monastaries on the top of pinnacles.

Voici des photos les plus recentes. Le stade que vous voyez date de plusieurs qq siecles avant JC. Meteora etait de toute beaute/ Le concept de temps etait bien different dans ce temps la. Les monastaires ont ete construits en plusieurs etapes durant une periode de plusieurs annees. Nous sommes de plus en plus melangees avec la mythologie grecque.
