Well my first week in Athens was unfortunately very dissapointing. Not so much Athens' fault as the bacteria..... I had a cold. a pretty bad one at that. fever for a few days, coongestion, headaches, etc.... there wasn't much i could do but hang out in the house and sleep. bummer. Once i began to recover, we took some small little trips.... the first was to Lycavvitos, huge hill near the swankier, priceyer neighborhood of Kolonaki. As i was still foggy i didnt think to bring my camera. which i certainly regret. the day was perfect. the sunset was goregeous overlooking the Acropoplis and behind the church on the hill sat the moon perfectly full in the sky. we went into the church, lit some candles, crossed ourselves and kissed the icons.... (my germ concious american brain told me to kiss in an inconspicuous corner where others wouldnt, so that they may not get sick 😊
well, i had written more earlier, but amazingly somehow the screen closed and i lost it all..... so i will let my pictures speak for me, as they do better at it anyhow.... 😊
One little image my camera didnt catch,
overlooking the concrete forest of athens
isnt it romantic? I have spared you the shot i accidentally took while the couple was lip-locked :)
but my journal did was this....
"I am sitting now in Plaka for a break (it was about 2:30) the woman sitting here before me wearing mostly black with black sunglasses, high high highheeled boots, and a white and black scarf that spells Chanel in big bold lettters, as thus far drank 2 glasses of red wine, smoked many a marlboro red, and stares mysteriously out. there is a bowl of nuts on the table that she hasnt touched..."
i'm sure that if i were close enough, her perfume would overwhelm...... a portrait of a modern athenian woman for you.....
much love to all....
