There really aren't words to describe the Christmas Market experience in Dresden. There were several market areas all within walking distance in the downtown district. Each one of them was filled with festively decorated booths selling all things related to Christmas and all sorts of food vendors emitting the most amazing aromas. People bustling through the aisles, all bundled up in boots and scarves but most of all enjoying the festivities of the season. Street performers singing Christmas carols (or Russian love songs...see pictures!) and Gluhwein bars on every corner. The hot spiced wine is one of the traditions of the market. Ralf and I explored the markets during the day, then enjoyed some ice skating back at the hotel, followed by a nice dinner and more Christmas Market with Ines in the evening. It was such a memorable day and I feel so truly blessed to have had the opportunity to experience Dresden at this time of the year.

How cool is that...there was an ice skating rink in the inner courtyard of the hotel
