After leaving Switzerland we drove to Rhine Valley in German, heading for Heidelberg. We stopped along the way took get to learn more about the history of steins and their origin. We pottered through the small town then went to a winery, deep down in the basement, for wine tasting and cheese. This particular winery specialised in Riesling grapes, so we tried a variety of white wines.

We spent the night at a hotel referred to as Grandma’s house, and it was like that. There were rooms and corridors and little sitting areas all over the place. We were a bit unsure when we arrived, as everyone got their they announced which room they had been allocated and were directed to different parts of the hotel. We however were told that we had to stand aside and wait for a few minutes. We were then lead towards the stairs, out the side door, around the front (past the bus and the front we had just entered) down the road along the hotel, down a small pathway, and ended up underneath the hotel in a fantastic room for 4. We had our own private terrace area out the front, a big

room, huge bathroom/changing area (which was a complete luxury!) and everything was so cute and homely, just like Grandma’s house.

That night was a relaxing dinner in the dining room, where we decided that we’d throw a pajama party that night. There were not many places to party at that night, it was supposed to be the relaxing night before we hit Amsterdam. So a number of the guys & girls we’d become friends with on the bus joined us down in our room for a pajama party, it was great fun!
