My first foreign trip was a school trip, after years of only doing UK trips to see usually relatives and often in Scotland this was by comparison very exciting.

Bus from Banchory to Hull then the 'Norsun' ferry over to Rotterdamn. Drove thorugh Holland and deep into Germany to town of Bad Salzig on the banks of the Rhine.

Included cruises on the Rhine and a trip to Phantasialand. It would be a decade before I made another foreign trip but at least I got to leave the UK and get a bit of a feel for a different culture.
