Catching up with John
We went to Sam and Johns place in Wuppertol to see where they were living and look around the small town.Once again…we were up too early. Today we had a reason though, a 7 hour reason. We drove from Berlin to Wuppertal and even at 160-170km/hour it still took 7 hours and cost dad 2 speeding fines (although he doesn’t know yet). Mum and Sam were no longer direction navigators, they were now speed camera looker outerers… and not doing a very good job.
Wuppertal is a little town near Dusseldorf where Sam and her boyfriend John have been living for the past 2 months. We stayed at their place for lunch and had a little look around the town. Another hour down the road and we were in Dusseldorf. We stayed her e for 1 night after eating a huge Mexican dinner.
Our day was spent walking along the Rhine, eating fresh food from the market and searching for cart wheeling boys. Apparently the town is famous for its hatred of Cologne, and after a short duel in the early 1200s which Dusseldorf won, the kids in the town celebrated by doing cartwheels. Now there are many statues scattered around the town of cart wheeling kids.
Back to the car… and back on the
road…we headed for Amsterdam.

Hi Girls
Lovely to read of your travels - am sure you are all having a wonderful time and great to enjoy all the sights together. You are the brave one Kim driving on the right! We loved Dusseldorf - thought it was quite lovely. Have been crazy busy here with work, renovations etc etc. Louise up here at the moment and have seen her a couple of times. Love your blog.
