It’s dark .... our shutters are down we decided to sleep in, it is Sunday. Kirsten’s phone starts ringing, it’s Bea and Caroline Face timing from Rome. Kirsten hears Caroline say ...I think we woke them up, then hears Bea, ...No Kisty is always up early when she on vacation. She has the Go-Go, Kirsten hang up and rolls over back to sleep.
We sleep for another hour or so.
Today we have a list of fests to attend, so many fests so little time.
We’re heading toward Alpirsbach, where there is a brewery that we visited back in May. They are having a Hops Fest. Yep, I’m good with that.
On our way, we come upon Wolfach, WOW! what a cute village, we had to stop and walk around it was so cute!
Back on the road, winding through the Forest we find another fest. It’s small but busy, we just have to pull over and check it out. It’s a home for the handicapped and they are having a fest to raise money. Two beers and a brat later, Kirsten and I are back on the road again.
We arrive in Alpirsbach, it’s
busy. Kirsten whips the car into the parking lot and slides to a stop. Looks at me and says “it’s Fest Time” she’s out of the car and heading toward the fest. I’m still trying to get my footing on the loose gravel, wait for me!!
We spend 3-4 hours vondering through the fest, sitting with different folks and enjoying the music, food and of course the beer.
Around 5pm, we decide to meander back to our apartment.
On our way back, we stop Schiltach, another little village where the Kinzig river flows through.
Kirsten stops, grabs out backpack with some snacks, beer and wine and off to the river we go. We have a great time watching the kids playing in the water. We put our beer and wine in the river to cool down along with our feet ...so refreshing. The water is so cold and clear.
Ok, if you haven’t noticed someone is missing, Where’s OMI!!!!
Well .... Omi dropped us like a bad habit in Dortmund, saying she had a better offer. She stayed in Dortmund with the Falz’s for the week and on Sunday caught a train to Fulda
to spend a week with her friends. She’s then catching a train to Wangen to visit Maria and go to Verona, Italy to see some famous opera.
So that’s where Omi is. We’ll see if she’ll send us some pictures of her travels and we’ll include them in the blog. Or checkout her Facebook page.
We are back at out apartment and the fest in the village is still going strong. So, we go and have dinner and evening of festive activities again.
The locals were so glad to see Kirsten again and that guy that’s always with her.
Good Night...
