On the 3rd day, we went to explore Nuremberg. After a morning stroll in Nuremberg, we took a train to Ulm, where we visited the Ulm cathedral (with the tallest church spire in the world) and the Bread Museum. (We went there just because my housemate Carine loves bread...)

In the evening, we took a train to Munich, where we met our friends Elsa and Wanqin, who went to Salzburg the previous day and would be joining us for the next few days. We went to downtown Munich but disappointingly the Christmas market had already closed. Nevertheless, we had a good dinner at the Augustiner Bierhalle. (Wanqin and I shared a fantastic meat platter.)

The old city of Ulm was divided when Napoleon used the Danube as the boundary between Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

This is the spot where Einstein was born. (The house where he was born was demolished.)
