Hi there! This will be short, but I felt the need to share this with you.

We have the same staff working in the cafeteria as we did last month, and as part of our daily routine, we have to show our student card when we pick up our meal to prove that we've paid already. The lady who runs the cashier at the beginning of last week told me that since she knew me from the month before, that it wasn't necessary for me to show my card every day. So, every day for the past week I've simply said "Guten Tag!" and gone on my way with tray in hand.

Yesterday afternoon I decided to get a haircut, which turned out quite well if you ask me. I found a picture in a magazine that looked exactly like what I wanted and so even though I didn't know all of the proper terms, the stylist still understood what I wanted. Long story short, I came to the cafeteria today, picked up my meal and walked up to the register. I smiled and said "Guten Tag" just like any other day, but as I started to walk off, the cashier called after me. She then asked to see my card, which I happily produced, but had to chuckle to myself. I didn't realize how different my haircut made me look, but since then I've had several other people do a double-take when they've seen me, so she isn't the only one.

By the way, the food in the picture is called 'Cannelloni." It's not actually pasta, but ice cream. It has a base of vanilla and strawberry ice cream topped with whipped cream, and then two vanilla waffle-like tubes, each filled with ice cream, are placed on top of that. Strawberry and chocolate sauce are then drizzled over the entire thing. The best part about it was that the vanilla ice cream tasted like our homemade vanilla ice cream that we make on a yearly basis for 4th of July, so it brought back a few memories. The ice cream shop right next door to my dormitory has several specialties, another of which is 'Spaghetti', which is simply vanilla ice cream shaped like spaghetti with strawberry sauce on top.

Fun stuff!

I've been in Europe for three months now, and still have 3 more to go. I'm a 5th year senior with one semester left before I graduate, and what better way to spend it than by studying abroad? Predominantly I'll be in Germany and Austria, but will be taking in sights and sounds all over Europe. This blog is intended to keep friends and family updated about my adventures overseas. I hope everyone enjoys my blog and keeps in touch!... full info

It's neat. Your hair doesn't look too bad either.
