Small pond in the Black ForestOur journey to Freiburg was a rainy train ride but that didn't dampen the beauty of Autumn in the Black Forest. Once we arrived it was a quick tram ride to Charis and Yalany's apartment where we met Ingo and his trusty companion Cappuccino. They all welcomed us with open arms and a delicious homemade pizza was soon to follow. The next day, weary from our travels, Ingo took us to a traditional hot bath house. This place was man made, they drilled down to an underground hot spring and piped it up at a wonderful 55 degrees C. There were several pools inside and outside at varying temperatures including an outdoor temp pool for circulation, which we took a vigorously quick dip in. This was a super experience and relaxed us almost to the point of napping on the car ride to the vineyard where we picked a few apples and pears and sampled the local grapes. The next day was a special one, we got to experience the wonderful Harlekin Circus, which is a children's circus consisting of kids from 8-18 doing everything from juggling, acrobatics and even trapeze performance. Local vineyard his whistle and big red bow tie, such a hoot! Later that evening, we attended two birthday parties. The first was a super relaxed atmosphere with guitar playing, singing and vegetarian food in of all things Mika's tepee!! The next party took place at an adventure type camp/park for kids that Charis and Ingo are involved in, complete with stables, metalworking + woodworking shoppe, suspended rope course, gardens and all kinds of fun little huts and play areas to get the kids back to nature. The last day was spent wondering through the beautiful Black Forest. The colors were amazing the weather was a bit chilly but no rain, and there were endless trails for us to wonder through. It was quite a magical experience! We couldn't have asked for more...our hosts, Charis, Yalany and Ingo were so fabulous. Besides the hospitality in Freiburg we were given some great contacts in Switzerland. It just seems to get better and better, unbelievable! Next, Switzerland, near Lausanne in the small village of Morges right near the border of France. Hope you all are doing well!
