I went to bed early because I was feeling a little down, missing home a little. It feels like people are ignoring me completly at the hostel. It is weird since my first five days I always had someone to talk, laugh and enjoy the city with. I know I wanted to come on this trip alone but I didn´t think I would get like this this early.
I set out into Bruge at 10:00am, I made my way to one of the old entrance gates. The only way to get into the city was for someone from the inside to let you in. If the person who let people in let the wrong people in then they were a traitor and they need to be disposed of. On this gate there is a bronze replica of the skull of a traitor.
I then put my map away and got lost, which did not last long because before I knew it I popped out right by my hostel. I decided to try and book and tour to Flander Field but the tour was full, so instead I might go to Gent tomorrow.
It was about lunch time so I
went to this place that is suggested on our hostel map (it is for travellers made by locals so it shows you the good local places, only people staying in hostels get this map) it has spaghetti plates for €3. It was piled high with cheese, lots of cheese just the way I like it and to wash it down was 2 kriek beers. My bill came to €6 which I think was pretty good. There was a local lady sitting at the table next to mine, I asked if she spoke english, she said not very well but she lied haha we had a nice conversation and we understood each other good enough. She told me some good places to that were out of the tourist way. There were tourist everywhere here and this lady said this was not even busy, I could not belive it because I though the city was over run by them already.
Afer I finished I headed towards the direction on the windmills, which I must say I like the ones in The Netherlands better. They were next to a nice park so I walked that for a bit before heading back to
the hostel but by going down side streets.
At the hostel I meet this girl from Australia named Gin (Virgina) she seemed nice and we ended up hanging out the rest of the night. At 9°clock it was happy hour, €1 beers so I got me a few. I ended up talking to some locals who come to the hostel bar a bit which I think they only come here to try and pick up travellers. We did still have a good conversation about history and stuff that is going on in the world.
One thing that is intresting about being in Europe at this time is the FIFA world cup, It is being played everywhere, and if I am in the country that is playing that night, there is no way you can get into any bar or resturant.
