Strange Sight
This was high up in the mountains and catapillers were crossing the main road in chain form strange. Hi Folks as you can see back in france weather dry and nice, decided to look at staying in area called Petit Camargue stunning area full of waterways and little islands, cycle routes golf course and all the things that we look for on our travels, perfect. Or so it would seem full of anticipation we even decided to try our hand at camping, bearing in mind we have only ever camped once in the recent past and this left a scar on Eunice and her friend Susan remember the toilets girls. We found a marvelous site and Eunice gave her seal of approval to the toilets as I reflected on life with a beer waiting on her return. Deal was quickly struck, staying for 4 days all in the garden was rosie. Nice man showed us to our pitch complete with electrical hook up, parked the car examined pitch for suitability and any little presents left by a dog. I learned from our previous camping, old dog has learned a new trick. Started to take bikes of back of car and thought something not quite right here, was there some sort of military excercise going on using chinouk helicopters in
Scenic route
High up and cold stealth mode. No chance I know what they are the biggest mozzies I have ever seen, picture the scene me doing a country dance, several massive bites on legs even bit through clothes and Eunice got more than her fair share as well. Quickly returned bikes to rack and high tailed it out of there stopping at reception to retreive passports and cancel 4 days. Headed in land as far away from water as possible. Eunice had found out about some caves she wanted to visit at Le Thor so off we went further inland. On arrival entrance was located in pine forrest and what do they have ? I remained in the car with several clouds of mozzies circling around could hear them buzzying or was it just my previous experience still fresh. Eunice braved the cloud and went into the caves. Apparently really amazing. Checked into a hotel aptly named Tonic in Digne les Baines, after that day I needed a gin as well. Set of next morning fully laden as normal to Nice via scenic route over the mountains. Is there no end to the Kangoos endurance and adaptability.
