Lots of sleeping on the bus, and it was back into France, destination, Nice. On the way we had a stop over at a perfumery. It was just in time, as the tyre under where we were sitting sounded flat.
The perfume tour of Fragonard wasn't the most riveting, but I did learn that the alcohol used in perfume comes from beetroot. Who knew!
Upon returning to the bus we found out that the problem with the wheel wasn't a flat, the wheel was actually coming off. At the time of parking the bus, there were only three bolts left holding the wheel on. So it was goodbye Heidi (that was the buses name), hello shuttle bus to take us into Nice.
On arriving we had a bit of time to get ready for dinner that was at a nearby restaurant. Dinner that night was great! Really good gravy. Dessert was profiter rolls. Yet another way of making them, these ones were filled with icecream (For those of you who don't know, it's custard in Australia and cream in England)!
On the way back to the hotel Kirsty had an interesting experience of
a man growling at her like a dog. Strange way to get a girls attention, you can't imagine it has ever worked for him.
It was then to the bottlo for some drinks and to the beach to drink them. A few people went to a dance party that was happening across from the beach, while the rest of us watched the thunderstorm roll in over the waves while some unwashed German backpackers played the guitar.

The day started in search of a market, yet again. We found some in the old town, but once again it was fruit and flowers. We did get an awesome icecream though. Mine was fresh mint.
Cutting our loses as far as markets go, we walked around the back streets, and then headed to the main street in hope of finding something to wear that night to the casinos in Monaco. I found something that made do, but I haven't had much shopping luck. We had a lot of fun though. A lot of people like to take their dogs shopping there, even in the posh centres. We saw one dog that had its own special
One of the Fancy Cars
L-R: Nat, Q, me and Mel doggie pram and he was loving it. There was also a street lady with a rabbit and a man walking around with a cat on his shoulder that was on a lead.
After a quick Maccas stop, we then headed to the beach! Swimming time! The beach is stones of course, but that added to the fun. It was a mission to get in and particularly out of the water. All the locals had it down, and here were us, very white people in contrast, having to crawl up the incline out of the water! The water was such a beautiful blue. I could have definitely stayed longer in Nice. It was so pretty, the beach and the town.
That night it was time to get dresses up and hit the casinos. Due to us having no bus, we caught the train. There were some interesting people on the train to say the least. One old guy wouldn't stop staring at Kirsty, but you could hardly blame him when you saw his size 26 partner sitting next to him wearing a mess top with her bra on display for all. All kinds of wrong!
Walking outside the
ritzy shops, we arrived outside the Grand Casino of Monte Carlo. The cars parked out the front were incredible, and I dread to think how much they would have cost. But I don't think money is such an issue for the people that use Monaco for their playground.
We went into the Grand Casino, and I was shock by the size. It was small, there was no music, and pretty much no noise. Very weird for what springs to mind when we think about a casino. It was very serious, but you could see why as the players were tossing down 500 euro notes like it was pocket change. We then, after enjoying a Bellini, decided to head to the circus casino for cheaper drinks.
The circus casino was more in our price range. I was impressed with some of the pokies here. I played Top Gun, yes, like the movie! The seats have speakers in them and vibrate. My money didn't last long in here, but the guy next to me got the bonus and got to go into the Danger Zone! The song played and he flew the plane to get credits! I then tried Monopoly.
It was a cool machine, but still no love. I won enough to keep going, but the best bit was it had a handle! The novelty of it all!
