We arrived in Nice by train from Paris. We took a taxi to our Airbnb. Our landlord was waiting for us. Our apartment is on the ninth floor of a building overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The unit has one bedroom, a toilet with sink room and a room with a shower and sink. The living room and kitchen face the sea and we have a balcony with a table and chairs. The first order of business is to shop at the grocery store right next to our building. We buy cereal, milk, fruit, bread, cheeses and wine. There is a boulangerie (bakery) just a few doors down where I buy chocolate and raisin croissants for breakfast. There is a long promenade all around the bay and we walk the entire length. There are two lanes just for bikes and wide walking area for pedestrians.

Our first full day in Nice we buy a weeks pass on the metro which includes rides on the buses. The metro line 2 is just steps from our apartment entrance. Our first stop is the Musee Massena located off of the metro stop Alsac-Lorraine. The museum is located in a villa and covers the history of Nice. We enjoy see the villa as much as the items in it. The woman who sells the tickets explains a three day Nice museum pass is on 15 euro so we buy the pass. This decides what we will do for the next three days. So everyday we visit three to four museums. We have our main meal of the day at lunch. Most of the restaurants in Nice are Italian not French so we have pastas, seafood risotto, pizza and veal dishes. All the restaurants we eat at have outdoor seating. The following is a list of museums we visit. Only one was a real bust with not much to look at and so do not visit the Musee De Prehistoire.

Musee Matisse - located in a Genoese villa. Matisse lived in Nice from 1917 until his death in 1954.

Musee D Archeologie - this museum is located next door to the Matisse so it is easy to visit both. We took a bus from central Nice to get to this museum. In 14 BC part of what is now Nice was called Cemenelum and was the capital of an ancient Roman province. Outside the museum are Roman bath, shops and street ruins. The descriptions at the ruins are only in French so we use google translate to figure out what the signs say, We enjoyed this museu.
