Yes, I am still alive!! Been very slack!
After more than 2 months of pure relaxation I have finally decided to put fingers to the keyboard and give you all an update of what has been going on the other side of the world!!
June 11th - June 28th USA It was great to spend some time with my sister and her family. The 3 weeks went by very quickly, starting the day with either a bootcamp session, a run or a hike .... yes I know I'm on holiday but my sister is a fitness freak and that I guess motivated me!!
The days were spent with my sister and the kids (opposite: Liam (10), Kaela (9) & Therese (7)) who are just growing up so fast!
We managed to have some adult time-out too, managing to get a late booking to the Gordon Ramsey restaurant - The London, West Hollywood. It was a good gastronomic dinner in a lovely location. "Andrea I bet you haven't tried that Gordon Ramsey restaurant?!! 😱 " (BTW, all photo's below as have not figured out how to put them against each bit of text!)
June 29th- current (14th August)
UK, France & Spain My time there went all too quickly and it was then on to the UK for a couple of days to spend with my youngest sister and her family and mum down in Southampton before flying out to South of France to spend 3 weeks with Martin. Our friend Lauren had been travelling already in Europe and stopped by in Cessenon for a few days spending time at the local beach - Serignan and showing her the local historical village of Roquebrun. We earned our keep by painting the balcony railings of the old house and clearing out the overgrown garden!
After Lauren left Martin and I got stuck in in getting the old house ready for sale which proved never ending with little bits and pieces to finish off but we finally got it all complete the day before I was going back to UK. It's now on the market ... so if anyone wants to buy a beautiful rustic house in France, you know where I am!!! 😱
The new house is coming on a treat. I just don't know where Martin get the energy and constant ideas. What
he has done so far is quite impressive. I have attached a video too which gives you a quick overview (72secs) of the ground and 1st level of the house including (at the end of the video) the lift that he he constructing!! Unfortunately I didn't take any photo's or video this past weekend of the latest but will do that and send through in my next blog!
We did have some time out the first 3 weeks that I was there when we went to Roses in Spain to stay with some friends (see the intrepid snorkellers pic below!!), with the next village being the birth place of Dali where we did go and visit his museum there which was well worth it and would recommend it. He was truly a genius. Much of the time in France has been spent eating and drinking!! Really need to have more willpower as I won't be able to run in Noosa this year ... maybe waddle th 10km!!! 😱 We also went to see the 5th leg of the Tour de France that came through the town near our village. We managed to see 3 stages of it, scooting around
on the motorbike (in pic below) and just managing to make it to see them by minutes! France is such a beautiful place, if you haven't been you will have to visit!
I have pursued looking for work, off sorts! There is work in the pipeline but not sure it will happen in time for me but that's just giving me more time to spend more time in France! So much so I have been going every other week down there, just returned this past weekend from the the big town festival (Feria) that is held each year. There are about 20,000 people and it reminded me of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Lots of revelers and good music.
The weather here in the UK has been shocking though, to be fair, it was a lovely the previous weekend and to be fair, since being back from France this past weekend it has been nice. Been great catching up with friends and family since I've been back too and cannot believe it has been 2.5months already since I left Oz .... when did I find the time to work before!!! It has been good and I'm looking forward
to Madrid this weekend to catch up with a girlfriend of mine and then off to France again the following week for a week when we have a wedding in the Pyrenees on the weekend which should be good. I will keep you posted in my next blog on the next two trips coming up!
Hope you are all well and look forward to your comments!!
