25th of April
Excited as any 10 year old would be I bound out of bed, throw my clothes on and eagerly run (briskly walk) to the Cityrama office where we are to hop on the bus to take us to Disneyland, Paris.
As we are eager and early we are first on the bus and take our seat right at the front of the top level of the double decker bus! Here we have a large window in front of us to peer at all our surroundings, defiantly a good spot.
It takes about 40 minutes to get to Disneyland. Our first sight is a grand entrance for the cars.
We are dropped of and told to meet back at the same spot at around 8pm. Exciting fact to know was that the Park had such late opening hours. According to the Mickey Mouse clock it was around 9am when we reached the gates with our Pluto and Mini Mouse tickets in hand. Of course the gates didn't open until 9.30am so we eagerly waited in line, jelously looking at all those who were staying in the Disneyland hotels as they got early entry. The gates
open and we bound in, taking a token photo under the 20th Anniversary sign.
Ahh the excitement! We grab our english maps for the Disneyland Park and the Walk Disney Studios and are horrified to find out we can't enter anywhere passed the main entrance area called Main Street, USA, unless of course you are staying in the Disneyland hotels. We use this time to a great advantage and plan our day. We sit in an unoccupied seat, luckily there are many and the crowds are yet to decend upon us. I leave the planning to Nathan as I stare in amazement at the going-ons around us. A horse and carriage wonder around infront of us with the iconic Sleeping Beauty's castle behind it. Discoveryland to our right and Adventureland to our left, where else would you want to be.
When the clocks tick 10am we spring across to Discoveryland where we line up to go on the Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast as it is ticked 'not to be missed' on our map. Aware we are short on time we plan on one ride in each land. We get our token photo from within the Buzz Lightyear ride.
It is a ride made for kids but thoroughly enjoyed by adults. The line was reasonably quick as there are a lot of inidividual compartments that you sit in two at a time. You have a gearstick to swing your compartment around and a laser gun each to shoot at targets and compete to get the highest score. A truely family fun ride that would be enjoyed by all. We then walk though Les Mysteres du Nautilus which is Captain Nemo's submarine. This is a great little adventure which has no line to enter.
Then we are off to Fantasyland, behind Sleepin Beauty's Castle. This is what Disneyland is all about, princesses and birght colours. We line up, possibly the only adults unaccompanied by children but this does not bother us. An hour later we are finally onto our carriage on the Casey Jr train. 'I think I can, I think I can,...' Sound familiar? It's the train from Dumbo. An enjoyable paced train/ roller coaster ride where you circle around a minature Sleeping Beauty Castle and peer down at those on the Le Pays des Contes de Fees cruise where you can see minature scenes from fairy tales.
Then we enter Adventureland and Nathan is luckily now not surrounded by 5 year old girls in princess dresses. Here we line up for an hour for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It is an 'adventurous cruise' through a pirate attack on a Spanish fortress with quite comicle scenes. Then we walk through the 'La Cabane des Robinson,' which is a really exciting treehouse based on the Swiss family Robinson's house. We can see the Hakuna Matata resturant from here.
We have a quick look around 'Frontierland,' where we are amazed at the scenes around us. No time to stop for a ride and as it is lunchtime the lines are long and the place is getting very busy. We try to find a restaurant for lunch that doesnt have a massive line, unfortuneatley they all do. We stop at a little cafe back at Main Street USA. We line up for a short while at the 'Market House Deli' and grab some yummy sandwhiches and muffins and even find a seat inside the cafe.
Then we are off to Walt Disney Studios! Here we take our token photo with Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse and
then head straight to the stunt show. 'Moteurs...Action ! Stunt Show Spectacular featuring Lightning McQueen,' is the stunt show we get to watch. It is very exciting with flames, cars and action and of course Lightning McQueen. The show is packed to the edges with guests.
After watching the show we have a quick look through some of the behind the scenes of the Studio Tram tour. Then we line up and go on the 'Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop.' The lines seem to get longer for every ride. This was a kids ride but very fun.
Then I finally convince Nathan to go on a Thrill ride as the day is coming to an end. We get to experience the 'Crush's Coaster' ride. It is a lot of fun and similar to the Scooby Doo coster here at Movie World on the Gold Coast. It was fun for us to line up and laugh at the Australian accent, 'do we really sound like that?'
Also, when on our first ride we bought a photo package for 5 photos for $35. We didn't end up going on enough rides to get 5 photos so were a little disheartened
when leaving and then as we walked towards the exit of Disney Studios we spotted, by chance a photo booth. Here we got the lady to take one photo of us and we applied it to 3 different backgrounds and then we used our photo package to purchase them. Great little souviner and we were very happy at our luck.
A quick spot of shopping on the way out and we are ready and waiting when the bus arrives.
All in all it is defiantly worth a visit and there is no way you should miss out on both parks. We felt very rushed and the lines were very long but thats what happens when you try to do it all in a day. We still got to experience some rides, some shows and all the fun things to look at, so we were defiantly happy and of course will have to return to tick off all the other rides we missed out on.
