This panorama shot captures some of the beauty of the centre of Beaune - Place Carnot. Little brasseries, wine bars & restaurants fringe the park. It was a lovely spot to have lunch on a park bench or sip a French chardonnay as the sun sank over the roof tops.

The vineyards were scattered with groups of workers - thinning new growth to improve grape volume and tethering vines to trellises.

Eagle eye Jan spotted this snake as we strolled through the vineyard - it was housed in a pile of rocks - didn't flinch as we stopped to watch it.

A surprise in this vineyard landscape - but milling grain was made easier with wind power - the big stick out the back pivots the whole top section, to face the wind.

Bit of a sus name for a chateau, but spectacular - I'm in the moat - gives a size perspective - must have been very worried about the neighbours invading!

Our final day was no surprise - a walk out of Beaune into the surrounding vineyards. Always so 'old world' - scenic - peaceful.

At the opposite end of our street stood the oldest residence in Beaune - 12th century origins with influences from Roman times.

Greeting from Sydney
Greeting Travellers! Your photos are fabulous. I am enjoying following your journey very much. I am VERY envious of the beautiful weather you are having in France - has been very cold and windy here in Sydney for past week. Finally had a sunny Autumn day today - bliss. Jan, we miss you at Curves and Zumba! A little news - Ana has broken a bone in her foot and Kim is currently taking the Wednesday classes.
