The Old Town Tallinn
Tallinn Estonia 17/9/06 So hard to decide where to begin!
Tallinn is such a surprise considering it’s our first step into what was an eastern block country and after some of the beautiful places we’ve seen it was great to be able to be awe struck again.
See Dad, I’m not as much the cynical bitch, as you think. I love these old cities protected from the outside world by their 16th century city wall. The cobbled streets and wonky building and lanes you can get lost for hours in! Yes even the local who have to dress up in their corney old fashioned outfits to attract the tourists!
The one blight on my stay was that my camera was playing up, or more specifically the card in my camera which resulted in an almost teary moment when I thought I had lost all my photos!
Im happy to say that thanks to the fabulous girl in the Fuji shop they found all my photos, which again this time did cause tears!
I would recommend Tallinn to everyone. The old town it is a romantic slice of history and we had some great nights out especially considering it
Tallinn Old Town
Tallinn Estonia 17/9/06 was a Sunday and Monday night that we were out.
The first night out was an organized dinner out with the group to meet the new ones joining us. Having gotten off to an early start with Tequila shooters (one of those things that seemed a good idea at the time) The tequila hit our empty stomachs pretty much as soon as we hit the lobby of the Hotel. We must have made a fine impression on the poor newbies, who were probably wondering at this point what in the hell they’d gotten themselves into. (I must say though we only scared away one and the rest stuck with us) One newbie in particular helped us girls, get over the disappointment with the fact that Matt Damon and Jake Guyllenhall didn’t end up showing to join us on our traveling group.
Now this Scottish Lass started off quite demure and sweet as you would expect someone to be who looked as cute as her. But WOW, may I say, you go girl!!!
Mix our Scottish Lass, Heidi and the Bootylicious, Mischevious, Krazy, Naughty, tequila ladies together and you have got yourself a party!
Dinner details are
sketchy, so anyone who would like to fill me in please feel free. But don’t worry I remember all of the conversation with regard to Rica and some particular versatility of the luggage compartment of the bus. Handy information for the rest of my travels. Again I complement the staff of Top Deck for the broad knowledge base all three of our crew seem to have. It is truly inspiring. Although I must re-iterate SHANDY. WHAT THE?! Thankfully the girls of the crew held they’re own.
Our second day in Tallinn deserves a mention purely because there was so few of us awake to enjoy it. More wandering, a very LONG lunch with the girls, and a memorable climb up the steeple of the Cathedral all 270ish spiral stairs up and down again. The view from the top well worth the effort and if not for some unfortunate timing, the view going up and down the stairs would have been great too!!! But wouldn’t you know it. Just as we reached the bottom of the stairs huffing and puffing, the two of the most gorgeous boys in blue walk in and start climbing up the tower. Quite determined
to follow them back up and we would have too, if not for the stern matron guarding the staircase. Yes God was definitely laughing at us there! Bugger!
The second night in Tallinn took us to a traditionally themed restaurant, thankfully I must say without the awful dinner theatre that usually accompanies a place like that. And in its defense it was the best meal of the tour (excluding of course the fabulous cook tent meals). It was our fair well dinner to the guys leaving us and in our fabulous way we did it in style. This time we managed to be “shushed” by another table, not only that, it was one of our group! Only goes to show people always are out to spoil your fun. And in our defense I don’t think we were that bad ! How loud can 6 tipsy girls be?
After dinner we again made steps toward improving international relationships. We had one particularly generous girl who was happy to sacrifice her favorite lip gloss for the good cause of making friends in Tallinn. I am please to say that most of the tour group (boys included), one statue, a

"Moose" Me Rowie Nene Kosta Em. 17/9/06 road sign and a few suited locals were offered the use of this lip gloss. Those who weren’t fast enough to dodge looked very lovely and glossy for the rest of the night.
And with that we said a very sad farwell to the people leaving us. Guys the Mexican wave, that early in the morning is truly an accomplishment.
