Hello, hello!
I am not sure where to begin since I have been slacking, and have already been in Denmark for 8? days. So I guess i will just start from the beginning.
I left Lewiston, flew to Pullman UGH. Then to Seattle...then to Chicago...then to Copenhagen where I had to literally run through the airport to pick up my bags and check them back in becaue the lady in Lewiston couldnt check them all the way through for some reason. At the gate my Dads cousins wife was waiting for me because he was on the flight with me from Copenhagen to Karup. Quick note: I know all the family relations will be confusing, so dont think too hard about it, just know that they all kind of look like me.
In Karup two of my Dads cousins and one of their daughters picked me up and we skipped out on customs which was lovely since that is rather stressful. At that point I had been traveling for about 26 hours or so. I was able to sleep quite a bit on the flights which made me adjust to the time difference pretty well.
I spent that night with one
of the cousins and her family who came to the states a few years ago, and the kids have grown since then. They told me I got smaller. The next day I was packed my smaller bag and left my huge bag at their house, and was driven to Videbæk where my Grandma and Aunt were with my Grandmas last remaining sister, and her husband. (My Grandma had 12 brothers and sisters=lots and lots and lots of cousins and relatives)
Everything is starting to blur, but I think this is how it went after that:
on Saturday we drove up to Thisted which is where another cousin just moved to. They had a beautiful home overlooking the fjord. A bit later that day about 65 of my relatives showed up for a big family reunion. I remembered the faces of almost everyone, which was comforting for me. So we spent the afternoon eating and drinking coffee and feeling left out because i couldnt speak danish yet. Although when I did try to speak, they all got very excited. My vocab covered mostly food items, and hello and goodbyes. We all went down to the water and found shells and cool
rocks and stuff.
That night after everyone but about 10 of us left, we had poulsa (spelling?) which is like really long, bright red hot dogs. Ive never been a fan of them, but that night they wernt so bad. This was the night that my eye started hurting as well...
The next morning and throughout the day my eyelid hurt really bad, i could hardly touch it, and it was a bit swollen right near the lashes. Luckily, Svend, (dads cousins husband) is a doctor, and he looked at it a bit but couldnt really touch it because it hurt, so the next day we went into his office and he had a look when it was feeling a little better and found that I had a slight infection under the eyelid...so that was a great way to start the trip. He gave me some drops that sting and make my eye blurry for a few min, but now my eye is healed completely, i think.
Alright...so after that, my Grandma, Aunt, and yet another one of my dads cousins, Birthe and I drove up to the very northermost point of Denmark, called Skagen. My Grandma, in
all of her years of living in Denmark had never been to Skagen. I suggest looking it up on google or something because it is where the Atlantic sea and the Baltic sea join together. We took a tractor out to the point where literally, you see the waves of the two seas crash together. I can officially say that Ive stood in two bodies of water at once 😊. Pictures will follow as soon as I can upload them from my camera.
Next we drove down to Århus which is on the east side of Denmark to stay with yet another cousin. This cousin has a daughter my age and a daughter that is..35 or so that both live in Copenhagen (yay!). Their son, Anders lives in Århus and has a baby boy about 13 months old or so? whom he brought over for dinner and I got to play with a little bit. The next day Tina (the older daughter) and her newly married husband arrived with their 10 month old baby boy, so I got to oogle over another baby. Ditta is the one that is my age, and I met her at the family reunion

Beach at Ellis and Svends home (last time i saw her was when we were really little). I really am lookin forward to getting together with them when im in Copenhagen.
After Århus, we drove back to Videbæk where I am currently. Tonight we are going to dinner at a really old hotel that is right down the street frm where my grandma grew up. Oh. I forgot to say, the house that my grandma grew up with her brothers and sisters is now lived in by my grandmas sister and husband. Okay, I am getting dizzy from trying to relive these last days so quickly. In a few days I leave for Copenhagen where my host mom will pick me up and I will start school on Monday! yikes...
Well! More to come later as well as pictures!
P.S. my Danish is getting better each day. Last night I learned how to correctly say I hope you sleep well! I would say it here, except I dont know how to spell. Youll have to trust me on this one.

Why would you title a comment?
Jackie! Thank you for blogging :) I had a great time reading it, and was particularly excited to read that you got to stand where the two oceans meet. I hope before I die I can have at least half of the experiences you already have had in your short life. Love you, have a great day!!! Adrienne
