All I can say is close your eyes Paula
Who needs to go to Disney for the ride of their life - not me! So everyone, nearly all 40 Carthago owners motorhomes have left Hillerod it seems so its goodbye to Andrew, Joan and now Barrie and Chris who have gone on to Sweden. That means we are on our own with no place to go. But the three couples are all in touch and all I can say is what a fabulous time we have had with all four of them - more Carthago chums adventures to be had in due course.
So after a bit of internet searching I thought I had found a great place for us to stop, near a fjord, so really looking forward to doing this and you cannot go to Denmark and not stay near a fjord surely. After a nice journey which once again I navigated although Mr Mike wanted the Sat Nav on and she may have wanted to take us a quicker way but I wanted to go the more direct way - see this map reading is great, just wish I knew my right from my left without looking at my hands. Now as I am over 60 well quite a bit but not 65 yet folks, I don’t think this is ever
Our view from our Motorhome - not bad
Still not going on a paddle board as my feet are now ice blocks by just putting toes in going to happen do you? Plus, do I look over 60 of course not (wearing rose coloured glasses when looking in the mirror, ha ha).
Before getting to the campsite we have to cross a toll bridge which is okay but hey ho it’s a bridge and I don’t like heights and with wind in the picture you can imagine - big girls knickers are needed and once across I can breath without palpitations - has anyone else heard palpitations can shorten your life - lets hope this is another old wives tale I have heard.
So we arrive at the campsite and I am panicking as we are higher up than the site and it looks pretty full - how am I going to explain to Mike that I have f…ed up and he is sleeping in a lay-by - not sure this will go down too good!!!!!!! First time we’ve rocked up at a campsite without booking.
I should not have panicked as guess what we have a panoramic view over looking the fjord so day one being adventurous is going well - you would not think I went to India and Nepal on my own and then bravely took Mike around the world for 5 months not knowing from day 2 where we were staying - I think this Covid thingy has a lot to answer for!!
I am now planning our next stop but this time rocking up to a stellplatze which is supposed to be a flexible and affordable stay - now to be honest campsites over here are affordable with loads of facilities but hey ho you have to try different things.
So the stellplatze in brief in Danish means “typically, specially equipped sites for campervan with flexible check in and check out” in other words if you do not like you do not stop or you stay only one night - not bad me thinks.
So just put my feet in the fjord as thought I would do a paddle board tomorrow - well these Danish people are amazing as it is freezing and I am telling you freezing so may have to wait until I get to the Caribbean - if I am lucky ha ha. I now have two ice blocks as feet, am I going any further - answers on a post card please cause that is not going to happen!
