We are in Copenhagen for the day, but more importantly, this is the first port Susan and I’ve been able to visit together. Oh, it feels so good getting out of the room. We did the included walking tour of the town. It turned out to be over 4.5 miles. The first stop on the tour was the Little Mermaid statue in honor of Hans Christian Anderson’s book the Little Mermaid. We then saw the Royal yacht and continued to walk along the water front. We saw the royal residence (even though the Queen was not there now). On the walk back to the ship, we saw the old military residences and the oldest building in town followed by the military fortification before heading back to the ship.
After lunch, we took the shuttle back into town so that we could see the colorful painted buildings and then we walked around for a short bit before taking the bus back to the ship.
Around 6, we walked out to a low boat. The small boat had a jazz band on it and we were serenaded with New Orleans styled jazz during our canal cruise.
