Today we arrived in Prague. It is very cold and rainy this evening, but the rest of the day was overcast and cool. It was raining cats and dogs when we left Dresden. So far we have visited the old, and I mean old cemetery and visited the graves of Anton Dvorak and Karel Capek, the guy who invented the term robot in a play titled,R.U.R.. We saw a Romanesque tower, the oldest structure in Prague, from the 1100s. We saw young people practicing sword fighting in the park, both male and female, with two handed swords. They looked like they were having fun. We walked on the old wall ramparts for breathtaking views of the city, as we were very high up. The city is divided by a beautiful river upon which people were sailing, sculling, and power boating. It looked like fun. Tomorrow we will visit old town and new town. New Town was built in the 1300s. This is a different concept of new than we might imagine!! There is another huge building called "new", and it was built in the 1800s. We are staying in the Pension Lida, and our host and hostess are very nice. They greeted us at the train station, and served us tea, beer, and pastries as they told us the sights, and got us oriented. On Thursday night we are going to a performance of the Prague Royal Orchestra, at Smetana Hall, performing PACHELBEL CANON IN D! VIVALDIS 4 SEASONS, and a MOZART Divertimento. Again , please excuse any oddities in the printing, as these keyboards are all different, and Im usually in a hurry. Take care. Hal and Carmen
