Prague Bike Tour
Hannah & Leah ready to go Well I’ve had my five days of work, its time to head over to Europe again to catch up with Leah & the gang - this time in the beautiful city of Prague in the Czech Republic.
Transport from the airport was interesting, since the only directions that the hostel gave was for a bus that finished running at 9.30pm - even on a Friday night!?!
I got dumped right in the middle of the old city - Stare Mestro -, full of beautiful buildings and cobblestoned paths. However, I must say I was quite happy to see Leah & Co, who by now knew enough of the city to get us home with little brain power required from me 😊
We had a massive day organised on Saturday, starting with a bike tour of Prague. I was very excited to be zooming around on a bike - unique freedom which you don’t get catching the tubes or buses around London.
We started in Staré Město, the old town, seeing the old city gates and powder towers (where they used to keep the gun powder) and weaved our way down to the Vltava River and on to Strelecky

Sarah, Hannah, Leah, Kat, Sarah, Brooke, Ro Ostroy Island. We crossed over the river to see a wall dedicated to John Lennon and the beautiful historic Charles Bridge spanning the Vltava River.
Staroměstské nám, the main square, was undeniably one of the city’s best assets. Surrounded by ornately decorated pastel-coloured buildings and also has the famous Tyn Church (dating backing to 1365) and more excitingly, the Astronomical clock from 1410, with its hourly display that’s grand finale is a skeleton chiming the bell.
That evening we joined a local pub crawl, in which we got to see some of Prague more interesting places, even a bar that was in an underground cave! It was guaranteed to be an interesting night, when the first round of drinks was a shot of Absthine, Czech’s local delicacy.
We managed to prise ourselves of out bed on Sunday morning, and headed to Prague’s Castle, high up on the hill over looking the city, which dates all the way back to the 9th Century. The massive St Vitus Cathedral dominates the complex, and inside is the tomb of John Nepomucene, Prague’s patron saint, with four large solid silver angles watching over him. Very impressive. We wandered around the castle

Leah & Hannah buildings and palace, everything seems to be super-sized, that is until you come to the cute 'Golden Lane' with small old buildings, now selling all sorts of arts and crafts.
Nearby was Petřín Hill, where we took the funicular up to the top for a wander thought the rose gardens and also climb the Petřínská rozhledna tower, said to be a 1/5th model of the Eiffel tower. The tower gives a spectacular vantage point for views over the city and Vltara River. For me, however, my holiday was drawing to a close. Leah and I popped back to Charles Bridge for one last look at the art work, before I whisked away to the airport to catch flight back to the reality of London and work.
