After all the amazing places I've been fortunate enough to visit this year, I think I would have to rate Prague one of the highest. I haven't walked around with my mouth gaping like that since I was in Venice. When I first arrived it seemed like just another European city with maybe slightly different looking buildings, but as I got further and further into the heart of it all I was more and more ... I find the Czech language really beautiful, orally and written.

Mucha's stainglass

I don't normally enjoy going into churches but the St Vitus Cathedral has one panel done by Mucha that I really wanted to see and it was beautiful.

John Lennon Peace Wall

Not just a big ugly piece of graffiti. This wall was started in the 80's before the Czech Republic existed and it was still Czechoslovakia, a communist state. They used it as a place to express wanting peace & freedom.

It's starting to get a little bit over-worked in my opinion, but there are some nice messages on the wall if you look hard enough.

Snow

After how cold it was I couldn't believe it hadn't snowed. Then, on the bus ride home just 10 minutes out of the city centre there was a blanket of snow over everything!

It lasted like this for hours on the bus, a white winter wonderland. So glad I got to see snow again!

Budapest!
Love your pictures, can relate to the crowds. I am blessed to be living in the Balkans right now but had the amazing opportunity to spend a month in Hungary, Budapest to be exact. Absolutely beautiful city (two actually, Buda and Pest)like Prague WITHOUT the crowds!!!!Some of your pix look almost exactly like mine! If you can...go there. You will be glad you did. We will be going back.

I fell in <3 with Prague
Prague in the Czech Republic is the most beautiful, breathtaking city in the world! It's a fairytale wonderland, the food is the best, soooo rich and hearty, and the beer is really cheap! I live in Australia and have Czech background- when I went there I felt like I belonged there (one of the tourists in my tour group said it was "cellular". I am definately going back next year and staying at Hotel YASMIN again! Plus I want to buy a bigger Babooshka Doll :-D
