WOW, another great night sleep. I just love these hard beds at the Hilton.
Kirsten is still asleep and I’m tiptoeing around and taking a shower and getting dressed. Being my normal stealthy self, I hear Kirsten yell from under her pillow “it’s not working I hear you”. I shrug and continue.
Kirsten meets me for breakfast, I’m sitting in the corner picking out all the folks I think will be on the cruise and giving them names.
Kirsten asks… So have you picked them all out? Na, I’m just catching up on all the news I missed. Anything interesting? Na
After breakfast, we make our way over to the Viking meeting area. Claudia our cruise director is there and welcomes us. She immediately picks out Kirsten and makes all over her. She acknowledges me as Brian. Kirsten corrects her but she stills calls me Brian. You see…. Mandy/Bea/Brian/kids took this same cruise 3 weeks ago.
We’ve been given a class on how to use our audio device so we can hear the tour guide tell us all about the sites. Me.. I’m still fumbling with how to use it while also using my hearing aids.
Hmmm, finally I hook the earbob to my ball cap next to my hearing aid. Looks a little odd, but not as bad as the other folks struggling with the volume control and on/off switch.
So off we go with Helena to tour Prague. We’re on the 6A bus and are first bussed to the castle high on the hill. Helena is answering all the dumb questions and giving us an informative history lesson of each site we visit. All time doing her best at trying to keep the crowd together. Herding cats yep, she’s not paid enough.
After the castle we are then bussed to the old town where we are given a talk on the famous astronomical clock. Pretty cool clock, which shows time, planets and zodiac time.
We’re then given an hour for lunch. Kirsten looks at me and says let’s blow this group have lunch and finish our own tour.
Yeah! Now were talking. We sit down at a café overlooking the old town square. We had a coupe of appetizers, which included a bread bowl of Goulash Soup. Oh yeah and beer!
It started raining and everyone scrambled. Not us….
our café attendant quickly unrolled the cover and we had another beer.
After lunch, we took the metro back to the brewery and winery. We sat there and had some more appetizers and beer at the top of mountain. While we were there another major storm rolled in. We just sat there and enjoyed out beers and apps under an umbrella.
After an hour, beautiful blue-sky came out we walked back to St Vitus... and picked up tram back to town.
We arrived back to our hotel and it was Naptime. We both napped for about an hour.
Kirsten woke up first and wanted to take another stroll so around 4 pm we headed out. We followed the river cutting through Prague and walked for almost 2 hours and made our way back to this restaurant close to the Hilton. We had decided to have dinner here earlier. It was full of locals and had a standing line of folks waiting to eat there. Yeah it was great food and lots of it.
We crawled back to the hotel and into bed. Tomorrow morning will come soon enough.
