View of Split as we sailed away. Geo: 43.302, 17.0158
We were pretty excited this morning. At midday we left our apartment and headed to the harbour and boarded our sail boat. There were 30 of us and the crew. Dee and I shared a room at the front of the boat. It was so tiny! After unloading the bags into our rooms, we gathered in the dining room- lunch time! Lunch was fantastic and a really big meal. The food was all prepared in the kitchen by a local woman and was yummy. As we ate lunch we sailed away from Split along the coast towards Makarska. There wasn't much to do on the boat except lounge around, read a book, play cards, listen to an i-pod, chat or have a few quiet ones- there was a bar on board.
The first optional for the trip was to do white water rafting. Most of the group choose to do this option, only 6 of us didn't. Surprise, surprise, I choose to not do it. The boat moored and most people got off and onto a bus to go to the river. Instead the 6 of us sat on top of the boat for the next few hours as
02 Coast
The Croatian coast. we sailed to Makarska. It was really nice and peaceful and a good start to our tans. Late afternoon we arrived. We had the evening to ourselves. We walked around town and ate our daily serving of ice-cream and walked through the tiny streets. We then walked up to the old monastery and from here there was a great view of Makarska and the sun setting. The others were due back soon, so we went back to the boat and got ready for dinner. Seafood was the only thing I wanted to eat on this trip, so that is what I ate! After a slow dinner we went to the nightclub that is in a cave. It was so overrated- only 1 toilet and way too hot inside, it was no wonder people jumped into the water! But we had fun anyway and went back to the boat for our first night at sea!
