Diaries of a farm couple

so where was we? oh yeah, we were just about to leave for melk, the jounrey was straight forward and all trains were on time but on the train i cut my thumb on a pen nife (i was trying to cut cheese!) and well basically i chopped some of the top of my thumb off...lots of blood but all okay now



We waited at melk station to get collected and soon a man in a smelly red van collected us and drove us up lots of mountains to a small farm in the middle of nowhere! we didnt see alot as was pretty dark but was welcomed by 5 cats sleeping in baskets and a massive very hairy white dog named Marsha, we walked into the kitchen and everyone was sitting around the table waiting for us to arrive! the wooden table was full of cheeses and breads and jugs of herbal tea!...such a lovely warm welcome, we were then shown our room and we laid our heads down for the night and was informed we would be woken with a knock on the door around 8pm



So the next morning was our first day at work and our first chance to exlore the farm and the huge house in the light! we were shown the animals and taught about their food (goats cannot have cabbage as it will kill them!!) an american girl is also here doing same thing as us and as she has been here since saturday she was able to teach us and we followed her, then we ate breakfast (everything we eat here is organic and lovely) and was told our chores for the day which included being shown how to milk a goat and how to gt all the ducks back into the duck house by saying ‘Na-halza‘ (go home)

Last night we all had games night and the whole family sat round and played instruments and played cards until late!



Today we was given a little project to build a fence around the barn! so we have been measuring, chopping and securing wood pannels! in the snow! its all complete now and looks really good
