Oliver Discovers Sand
At the shore of Lindbergh Bay in Saint Thomas, Oliver delights in filling his bucket with sand. He even ate some. Our hotel is on the edge of the shore of Lindbergh Bay in Saint Thomas. All we have to do is step out of our room and walk down the stairs, and we're at the beach.
This morning, we were the first ones up, so Andrew and I took Oliver to play at the shore. It was before 8am, but it had to be 75 degrees outside. The temperature high is to be 79 degrees all weekend, and the low shouldn't drop below 73. Further, it was almost deserted at that hour (there was one couple on the beach). We were able to claim some lounge chairs under the thatched-roof umbrellas, and it was perfect.

Oliver's favorite part was filling the bucket with sand, and I collected some shells to spell his name in the sand for a photo. Twice, the ocean claimed my artwork. The third time, Oliver did. Andrew & Oliver in Saint Thomas
Oliver & Daddy build a sand castle! Well, Andrew built, and Oliver knocked it down to fill his bucket. everything he could find (sticks, garbage, etc).
Oliver played at the beach for a full hour. He had sunblock and a sun hat (which he wore some of the time) and mostly played in the shade. It's strange putting sunblock on in the winter--strangely wonderful! By 10am, Oliver played to the point of exhaustion. He's napping soundly and allowing me to upload some photos of our first morning in Saint Thomas.
