Lots of photos with this blog - please check them out! Our next few days were spent in the second largest city in Guatemala - Quetzaltenango or Xela for short. The Mayan priestess was chanting and tossing items onto to fire- eggs, lemons, alcohol and eventually 4 tins of chilli paste. We watched 3 of the tins explode - the man who paid for the ceremony wasn't happy as the 4th didn't explode. The hot chillie paste, and explosion, is supposed to frighten the bad spirits away.
