On December 23rd out neighbors from the states, The Gellerts came into Antigua for Christmas, new years and a whole lot of other fun. Our friend from Boston, Carlos, also came down. The first night they were here we were so excited but we soon became bored and started burping the alphabet. The next morning we woke up and walked into town. We had a very low key day and at the end of the day we went and had a very nice dinner at a ruin that was turned into a hotel and restaurant called Casa Santa Domingo. After that we tried to find a church service but the closest service was at 10:00 so we went home and gave everybody a choice if they wanted to go or not. All the adults went but us kids stayed home. We then proceeded to have a very calm Christmas Eve and Christmas day. When we woke up on the 26th we jumped into a van and headed off to Lake Atitlan we spent 1 night there at a funny little place called posada Shoeman. After that we took a little tour of Panahachel and got some souvenirs at the market. We

then headed home and spent some more time relaxing. The next day we got up and I had a piano lesson. The guy talked so fast it wasn't even funny. the worst part was when he kept saying B minor it sounded like,"mi amor" which means,” my love". Later that day we went to the market with our tutor and she gave all of us a good tour of the market. Then on the 30th we went up papaya which is a volcano about 45 minuets away from Antigua. This time was a lot different than our first time. The first time there was not very many rivers but this time there were several very big, active, moving rivers of lava. The experience here is better than any possible in the states because there are no boundaries or limitations so we were throwing sticks in and roasting marshmallows on the lava. After that, on the 1st we took a plane to Tikal. We stayed at this great hotel on Lake Petén. There were boats that we could use and the lake was warmer than the air a few times. Tikal itself is amazing. Temple 3 which is the one that

most people know from pictures is huge but temple 4 which is still half covered is giant. It stands 650 feet tall and the views at the top were amazing. The next day we did some zip lines through the jungle that were a lot like Atitlan. We then got on a plane back to Guatemala City where we parted with the Gellerts and headed back to the house.
