My friend Alex (the other American AFSer who's part of the same program as me) invited me along to the Guanacaste province on the western peninsula of Costa Rica. I'm so grateful he did because the beaches there are beautiful!

I am a music-loving 19 year-old Caucasian male from Chelsea, MI, USA. I just completed an incredible five-month stay in Costa Rica where I volunteered at a butterfly farm as part of an organization known as AFS (www.afs.org).
