Lazy Sunday, wake up in the late afternoon, Go downtown just to see how it’s doin; Hola San Jose; what up JB? Not much, nice Guanacaste Tree. But my hunger pains are stickin like duct tape, Go to the panaderia to mack on some cupcakes! No doubt that place has got all the bomb crema, I love that ice cream like Mikey digs Elena.
Two, no, six, no twelve, ay Dios Mira! I told ya I’m crazy like that ol’ Pura Vida. Ate at a Chinese restaurant where they speak Spanish, Gotta eat well or else I’ll be famished.
Tru dat, Double true.
Gotta pack my lunch up, the deli’s underpriced, Gonna pack it up and pack it up nice. Don’t want Mami to get suspicious, Gallo Pinto & Lime = Crazy Delicious.
Ok, so, as a note, only some of that is true. I went downtown with friends and ate at a Chinese restaurant after exploring this great city. You know how often times it’s hard to understand the people at a Chinese restaurant in America? Well, imagine the same thing, except you are both trying to speak Spanish. Yea, try
ordering now. Have fun pointing at the menu and annunciating every syllable way too loudly and slowly, “QUI-E-RO CHO-P SU-EY POR FA-VOR. GRA-CIAS.”
Also, saw street vendors running from the cops with sacks of goods on their backs. You know that running of the bull in Spain? Replace the Spaniards with smirking Ticos and the bulls with cops. Hello downtown San Jose.
Brief Highlights: - I drank a coconut for lunch (it cost me $0.40). - Down here for crosswalks they have an animated running man. SO COOL. Check the video. - Found out we had cable and Sportscenter in Spanish. Hearing the word “Roethlesberger” is HILARIOUS. Also, “Marion ‘de Barberian’ Barberrrrrrr!!” - Went to Mercado Central - pretty much a developing country’s Pike Place Market. - Everyone thinks “Joan Booooosh” is the funniest name ever. - 1st day of class: My Spanish sucks. Sorry mom.
