Montezuma

If we had only known the things we know now BEFORE we went over here! The little town was great but once your there you pay dearly to get out. We bused hours up from Jaco to Puntarenas (one ugly town full of garbage) to take the ferry over to the Penninsula and take another bus down to Montezuma. It was possible to take a one hour jet boat strait from Jaco to Montezuma but it cost $35 EACH which is our days budget so we opted for the cheap LONG way around and down. We did get lucky a couple times and we met a nice American couple on the ferry who had rented a car and offered to cram us in and drive us down to Montezuma. The air conditioned drive was awesome compared to the 2 hour bus so full of people they were hanging out the window. However even upon arriving an hour before the bus load pf people everything was full except one sketchy looking place we took a room at. After both shared toilets didn´t work and cochroaches crawled on us in the night, we high tailed it out of there at teh crack of dawn and took a more expensive room but the hotel had a communal kitchen and a fridge in our room so we were able to buy groceries and saved money by cooking for ourselves for 4 days. We also went on a tour to Tortuga (Turtle) Island on a day snorkeling trip which was cool, we had lunch on the island and saw some cool fish. Our captain was free diving and caught us some things with his bare hands for us to take pictures of and touch which was fun. Also while we were here we ran into our usual couple, Barbara and Danny who are from England and we have been bumping into them in various towns since the first week of our trip in Panama, finally we decided we just needed to travel together it was meant to be. They had a friend with a rental vehicle in Montezuma who offered to drive all 4 of us to the next town for $50 so we didn´t have to pay $80 to take the shuttle out. I sat in the trunk part of the back of the SUV with the bags while we drove on a trail with parts down the beach and threw 3 rivers to finally get out of there and back to civilization with public buses! And we only got 1 flat tire on the whole drive 😊
