New year's eve pre cocktail time!
Well we certainly had a different type of Christmas this year, quite surreal. Was really quiet here though and you would hardly have known it was Christmas really. Like Europeans the Costa Ricans have their big night on Christmas Eve with pressie opening at midnight so we decided to go our for dinner and had an American style turkey feast, had to be done!

Christmas day itself as with all others here was hot so we cooled off with an early morning surf and a long walk along Jaco beach. We had bought up half the supermarket the day before and had a bbq for our lunch breaking the beer o'clock rule with a few cheeky Imperials.

Nicola and Mitch arrived on Monday 28th, unfortunately a day late due to missing their connection like us in Miami, this time though down to all the extra security measures at Heathrow delaying their flight. Have enjoyed going round all our old haunts restaurant wise and getting out surfing together when conditions permit. We will all be glad now when it quietens down here over the next couple of days - perhaps not recommended is going away when it seems every Costa

No silver shaker for Neil, a 6ltr water bottle is the way forward for his mixing!
Rican is also taking a break!

New years eve we decided on a big bbq and it was great. The atmosphere was lively everywhere and the beach packed. CRs love their fireworks and they were going off for about an hour over the turn of the year and some right over our head where we could feel the ash literally raining down on us. Even had a fully clothed dash into the sea at midnight, hence the change of clothes mid evening on my part! Neil decided to be Tom Cruise for the night mixing his own cocktail creations which consisted on copious amounts of Rum, Vodka, tropical juices, lemonade and fruit. It was pretty lethal stuff and new year's day was spent in recovery, no one able to even look at their surfboards!

Just one week to go now and just spending time reflecting on the experiences we have had and appreciating having the opportunity to do it. Where next year? Who knows, but we are currently compiling the shortlist!!

Love to you all.
