Summary of Monteverde

Our B&B was a 10 min drive away from Santa Elena. The room was very simple; no a/c, no fan, no tv, no fridge, inconsistent hot water, but plenty of charm and a real sense of peacefulness. A small foot path down and across a stream lead to the main office/coffee shop. Breakfast was definitely the highlight of this place: generous portions of homemade granola with farm fresh milk, fruits, eggs, toast from homemade bread, fresh orange juice, coffee, homemade mango and pineapple marmalade. We can't forget Randal's hospitality either. He was very friendly and always went out of his way to keep us content.

Monteverde itself is going to be memorable for its steep, very bumpy and windy roads. The kids enjoyed the lack of rules here! They've noticed that seat-belts are optional, people ride in back of trucks and motorcycles can carry up to 3 or 4 people!
