Playa Junquillal; a paradise for those in search of a quiet, lonesome beach. This one mile stretch of heaven is located in the Pacific Northwest province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. About 220 km west of the Capital San Jose, about 50 km southwest of Liberia, and about 15 km south of the port town of Tamarindo. Getting there is fairly easy for the adventurous. Peace can truly be found on this beach, and for two weeks every February, it's where you’ll find me.
Whether it’s a peaceful jog on the beach or a cold beer at the many pubs along Playa Junquillal, this is paradise found on the Pacific. Kayaking, snorkeling, or just getting lost in a good read in your own private cabana on the beach, all your beach pleasures abound.

having a snow board brain-fart, no luck. Currents can be strong on this playa only strong, experienced swimmers should venture out past chest high, fins recommended for swimmers. Not a problem this trip with the smaller swell, next year will be better…….

A gas station in Nosara, more like a house with handpumped barrels of fuel. A good way to meet the locals.
