So the bus finally turned up and i assumed it was a direct bus how wrong i was, it made loads of stops, was not arir conditioned and i was jammed in to a seat and knees crushed at the front and back kneed aswell and sweating like a pig and later on some of the Ticos shut the windows, it got to the stage the people standing up to and the pan american highway you would imagine is more than one lane either way. but it is one lane either way so if your stuck in slow moving traffic then your stuck, we were behind traffic for a while then we stopped at a cafe and i got some food and drink and then we carried on and we got to libera and i seriously considered forgoing the extra i paid and getting off there is it was starting to get dark and still no beach.
I should have listened to my head but Costa is famous for its beachs and i though i can not come here and not see at least one beach, the plan was to stay overnight, see the beach till checkout time and then
get a bus to Libera and stay there a day and then on to Nica the day after as Costa is not cheap and i wanted to move on.
I got to Playa and it turns out they had a dance festival i did not know about that was on and the were no rooms and if the had been rooms it would have cost me 100 dollars seriously blowing my budget to hell, so i have a rucksack and a day sack and its hot as hell and if i got a room any where near the beach i would not have slept for the music, so i spent two hours walking round trying to get a room and no where had a room and i was getting really upset and i had been on the last bus and a taxi was 40 dollars and my feet where getting saw and the straps from my rucksack were rubbing into my shoulders and everywhere i went said no rooms, i even started saying hey i will take a hammock or the floor as i just wanted to lay down.
Eventually after covering however many miles and considering using
Local Volcano
Costs 30 dollars to vist it...damnnn my last resort credit card for a room, i decided i would walk the two two miles to the next town, as it happened a mile from the beach i found Evan the owner of Buone La Noche Bed and breakfast and he did not have a room but had a cabin and it is normally 75 dollars, he let me have it for 45 dollars which was great, it was 9pm and i did not bother with the music festival, i showered and went to bed, the next morning i woke up and walked to the beach had a quick swim and took some pics to prove i had hit the beach...lol, the water was muddy and not at all what i think would be worth over 100 dollars a night to have a room by, no white sand on the beach either.
So Playa de Choco seems to me to be ok for rich costa ricans and americans on holiday or looking to buy condos as this whole beach area from Playa is condos or they are in the process of buliding more.
Its not somewhere for back packers, id rather have Koh phangan any day of the week over this beach, i walked back and grabbed breakfast, lots of portions to fill up and get my moneys worth, evan was nice and asked how i was and maded scrabbled egg and got me some water and toast etc, he is from Canada and has a place and family up there. Evan had a pet aprrot which was really cute and then i chatted to an american couple from denver, i awful with names but was david and think his wife was barb but i could be wrong.
Any way i told them of my trip and were i was from and they talked of there travels and they were heading home today. After breakfast they were getting in there hire car and i asked if i could get a lift, they said it was fine and we chatted and they stopped at papa johns in Libera as they wanted lunch before there flight.
I would have offered for the ride butthey did not ask for anything and they then paid for my lunch which was super cool and gave me there left over change as they did not need it and were heading home, we chatted and David gave me his card and said to send a link of my blog so they can keep tabs on my travels which is great, Meeting them and Evan restored my faith and got me out of my slump and i am in a better frame of mind today (which is the 2nd feb), i got to a Hostel named the Gunacaste Hotel and noted in the the Lonely Planet guide, they have a bus that goes to Nica but it is full till Tuesday so i would have to stay another day in Libera, the room is super small and cost 10 dollars. i then went to see if i can get tica bus tickets and the office was closed, next i need to try Transnica other wise more cash and another night in Libera.
I headed up to this internet cafe and have spent over an hour updating this and the last blog entry, i have 3 entrys to post, but i need to get my photos uploaded and so i will plublish my blogs later in Costa or in Nica, also checked my emails, i had 29 and have of that was rubbish...........lol, with my budget going astray i may dump El salvador and keep the other places?
Well time to go until the next update.
