Big Bad Snakes and Cute Frogs....

Central America Caribbean » Costa Rica » Volcan Turrialba » Turrialba » CATIE By LaurenB
June 3rd 2007 My time in Costa Rica is drawing to a close, but there are a few really great things ive gotten to experience this week. First, we went to this museum/zoo of sorts that only had snakes and a few other creatures. We received a talk about the indigenous snakes of Costa Rica (two of the worlds most poisonous are locals here) and then they proceded to take the snakes out. Without much of a safety talk beyond ¨stay back 3 feet¨ we got to take up close and personal pictures of the world famour bush-master and the most venomous snake in the world the Tricepelo. Take a look at the pix...

Also, one of my professors took me to lunch at a restaurant high in the hills with a great vista of the costa rican country side. Truly amazing! The price of the meal came to about a dollar. Humming birds were everywhere at this place, and the next door neighbor even had a pet monkey! A little sad that the monkey was chained up, but he didn seem to mind once he had his lollypop...see the pix
